What if I’m claustrophobic?
Floating in one of our float pods is much more expansive than you'd think. Our pods are X-Large; 6' wide by 8' long by 7' tall, so you don't have to worry about feeling like you're in an enclosed space or box. Far from it, actually. You are always in control of your environment and can leave the lid to the pod open or turn on the light if that makes you more comfortable. Even clients with extreme claustrophobia have reported having no problem with their time in our float pods. What if I fall asleep? Some people do fall asleep. The water is so buoyant, you will stay afloat. The worst thing that can happen is accidentally getting salt water in your eyes. What if I can’t swim? There is only 12 inches of water in the float pod. In addition, the water is incredibly dense because of the amount of dissolved salts. You float on top of the water, similar to a cork, no matter what size or shape you are. You simply step in, sit down, lay back and float. There is no skill required, just let the "salty water" do all the work. Is floating like meditation? Being inside the float pod takes your brain from the highly conscious alpha and beta waves to solid theta waves. Theta waves are associated with deep meditation and are where the verbal/thinking mind transitions to the meditative/visual mind. Floating provides an easy and reliable means to achieve and sustain this beneficial meditative state. What effect does the salt have on my skin and hair? Pharmaceutical grade Epsom salt is not actually a salt but a naturally occurring pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate. Safely used for healing and beauty purposes for hundreds of years, our Magnesium salt is beneficial to both your skin and your hair. A bathing cap may be worn but will not keep your hair completely dry and the tightness will detract from your total float experience. Do you wear anything in the float pod? Your float pod is in your own private suite with your own private shower. Most people float in the nude, and this is what we recommend as well. Anything you wear will become very heavy with Epsom salt and can distract from your float experience. |
How do you clean your float pods?
A filtration system, more powerful than any used in swimming pools or hot tubs, runs after each float session. There are 1200 pounds of medical grade Magnesium salts dissolved in each pod—a concentration so high that no living microorganism can survive in its contents. In addition, an ultraviolet light sterilization system is used. UV is the safest, most effective system available and uses the same technology as water purification systems used for drinking water. We also use a 35% Hydrogen Peroxide solution between each float session and at the end of each night, which inhibits the growth of any bacteria. Clients are required to thoroughly shampoo, soap, and rinse on-site before entering the float pod to remove oils from the body. We take every precaution to provide you with the cleanest, safest and most relaxing experience possible. To read more about our Float Pod Sanitation system, visit our Float web page HERE. Can I float while I'm pregnant? Absolutely! There will be a womb within a womb! We suggest that pregnant women inform their physicians or midwives and get their opinion prior to floating. The reports received from pregnant women have been enthusiastic. As their bodies get heavier, floating is a great relief from the pull of gravity and has given many expectant mothers a welcomed rest. Is floating safe for children? Yes, floating is safe for children but we require children under the age of 16 to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. How often should I float? This depends on why you are floating. We recommend that you float at least 2 times within 6 weeks to get the full experience of total relaxation. We have many clients who float once a week while others float once or twice a month. The frequency of your floats will depend on the reasons why you are floating. Our qualified staff can help you decide what is best for you. |
